Liberty: A Historic Suburb of Kansas City

Home to approximately 30,000 residents, Liberty, Missouri is a quiet, historic suburb of Kansas City that was settled in the early 1800s. Liberty is home to a number of attractions. These include the Historic Liberty Jail, which is noted for its importance to the Latter Day Saint movement; Clay County Museum, which details the history of the area and is, in itself, a historic landmark; and Jesse James Bank Museum, which boasts local artifacts within a 19th-century bank. Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary and Stocksdale Park are also favored for their lush greenery. Liberty is served by the Liberty 53 School District and William Jewell College, a four-year liberal arts college. Liberty residents enjoy living just over 15 miles from the heart of Kansas City, a city otherwise known as the “Paris of the Plains,” thanks to its undeniable wealth of cultural attractions.
